My late father, g-d rest his soul, purchased this Tallit for me in 1985 for my Bar Mitzvah. I don't recall where he purchased it from but it may have been from Manhattan's Lower East Side. When my father passed in 2022, I had to go to Synagogue every day to say Kaddish (the mourner's prayer). I needed a Tallit and this was the only one I had (the one belonging to my father went with him inside the grave - a Jewish custom.)
So I started wearing this 1980's Tallit every morning for synagogue until one day one of the congregants said "you're wearing your bar mitzvah tallit, right? You need to go to the synagogue office and buy a new, modern one." I was embarrassed and bitter at first but I realized he was right. All the other congregants were wearing a different type of Tallit. I went and purchased a new Tallit and never wore this one again. So this is why I am selling this Tallit.
My father suffered from severe Dementia the final years of his life, so 10% of this sale will go to Alzheimer's research.
