18th Century Elopement Set Engravings Art

Regular price $1,199.00

Set of Six 18th Century Engravings by J.R. Smith

A lifetime worth of collecting, it must have taken, to put this rare 18th century matching art collection together.  All framed equally in antique gold leaf frames (some frames shoe chips and flakes with minor areas with scratches, mostly in good condition).  The art engravings themselves have a date of 1786 with each piece having been engraved by the master engraver J.R. Smith.  Each piece titled, dated, and signed on the plate with a description of what is being depicted.  Friends, this rare set of Artwork is  preserved in magnificent condition under glass and each subject is whimsical and absolutely very interesting.  The Elopement, Dressing for the Masquerade, Latitia with Her Parents, The Fair Penitent, The Virtuous Patent, and my personal favorite The Tavern Door where a swashbuckler is making an overture to a lovely red head with another envious girl looking on the proceedings.  A collection such as this surely must have cost over $1000 just for the framing and the museum quality matting.  Also 6 sold together.
